Juan Oliveira is an electric guitarist hailing from a rich cultural background. Born in Spain, raised in Morocco, and trained in Switzerland, his diverse heritage plays a pivotal role in shaping his unique musical identity. Juan's passion for music led him to pursue a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance at the renowned Jazz Campus in Basel, where he honed his skills under the tutelage of esteemed mentors Lionel Loueke and Wolfgang Muthspiel.
Throughout his career, Juan Oliveira has played in the stages of various countries, leaving a lasting impact with his captivating performances. He has mesmerized audiences in Spain, Belgium, Nepal, Switzerland, Morocco and Croatia, showcasing his remarkable talent and versatility. In 2022, he had the privilege of recording with jazz legends John Patitucci and Peter Erskine as part of the Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra. Juan also embarked on a tour across Croatia as a member of the JM Jazz World Orchestra in 2020, further solidifying his reputation as an exceptional musician.
Recognized for his compositional prowess, Juan Oliveira's quintet Ekhilore clinched the prestigious first prize in the Goldfish Yam music contest organized by Yamaha Music Europe in 2019. Their mesmerizing performances of Juan's original compositions, "Cinco Meigas" and "Cruz del Fierro," captivated the judges and audience alike.
With his forthcoming debut solo guitar project, blending elements of jazz, classical music, and his own original compositions, Oliveira is poised to make a resounding impact on the music scene through his virtuosity and musical innovation.
